EBSCOHOST ON-SITE TRAINING STRENGTHENS RESEARCH AND INFORMATION LITERACY

The Knowledge and Information Resource Network (KIRN) spearheaded an EBSCOhost On-Site Training on August 20, 2026, conducted at the University Library, 3rd Floor, LRC Building. The activity was organized as part of KIRN’s continuing efforts to promote effective access to and utilization of quality electronic information resources in support of academic research, teaching, and learning.

The training brought together Faculty-Library Committee representatives, librarians, library staff, and student representatives providing a collaborative learning environment where participants gained practical knowledge and insights into the use of the EBSCOhost research platform. The activity aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills to maximize the features
and resources available through EBSCOhost and to encourage its wider use within the academic community.
During the training, participants were introduced to various strategies for conducting efficient and effective database searches. The session covered the use of search techniques, filters, and other available tools to help users identify relevant scholarly materials and refine their search results. Participants were also

guided on how to navigate the platform and locate appropriate academic resources that may support research projects, classroom instruction, and other scholarly activities.
Beyond database navigation, the training emphasized the importance of information literacy and the responsible use of scholarly information. Participants were encouraged to develop critical approaches to searching, evaluating, and selecting information sources. These competencies are

increasingly important in an academic environment where faculty, students, and researchers are expected to access credible and authoritative information to support evidence-based academic work.

The participation of faculty representatives, librarians, library staff, and students further strengthened the collaborative nature of the initiative. Student representatives can help promote awareness of EBSCOhost among their peers, while Faculty-Library Committee representatives can contribute to integrating available electronic resources into teaching and research activities. At the same time,
librarians and staff are better equipped to provide research assistance and guide users in making effective use of the database.
The EBSCOhost On-Site Training reflects KIRN’s commitment to fostering a culture of informed research and lifelong learning by strengthening the capacity of academic institutions to utilize digital and scholarly information resources. Through initiatives such as this, KIRN continues to support libraries and their communities in navigating the evolving information landscape and in maximizing resources that contribute to academic excellence.
The activity also highlights the vital role of collaboration among faculty, library professionals, students in promoting meaningful and effective use of information resources. With enhanced knowledge and skills gained from the training, participants are better prepared to share what

they have learned and contribute to a stronger culture of research and information literacy within their respective academic communities.
