SECTIONS OF THE LIBRARY
CIRCULATION OR LOAN SECTION
This section houses and circulates books and other materials in the General Collection and Reserve Collection. The circulation section is the most important key to the library where books and other materials are to be checked in or out. Specific regulations may be learned here for borrowing books, fines, and lost books.
The Reserve Collection consists of books and other materials designated by faculty members as required and collateral reading for their course.
REFERENCE SECTION
This is the place to go to find dictionaries, encyclopedias, almanacs, bibliographies, vertical file and other books needed to look up when specific information is needed. It also maintains a collection of geographical, historical, political and economic maps and atlases, a file of publications of local and foreign corporations and a collection of school catalogues. Asking for help in locating information is also done at the reference desk.
PERIODICALS SECTION
This section contains both local and foreign journals, magazines, newspapers and publications of societies, organizations and corporations. Bound periodicals are arranged on shelves by subject.
FILIPINIANA SECTION
This section houses and circulates all publications about the Philippines regardless of author, in print or format except works written by Filipino treating universally accepted ideas such as statistics, mathematics, physics, etc.
LOCAL COLLECTION
Stored in this section of the library are materials in Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera including local history. Rare books, manuscript collections, catalogs, photographs, and posters on the subjects will be collected and stored in this area of the library.
GRADUATE SCHOOL SECTION
This section contains collection of theses and dissertations including books for the graduate school.
TECHNICAL SERVICES
This section is where acquisition and cataloging are done. After materials have been acquired, it is necessary to assign them to a place in the classification scheme. The cataloguer takes care of the bibliographic description, classification, and the physical processing of the materials. It maintains the Union Card Catalog and the shelf list of the library.
THE AMERICAN SHELF
This is a small compendium of an American Studies core collection and updated information on the United States that includes pamphlets and brochures, electronic journals, maps, paper shows and other informative materials produced by the Department of State and different U.S. government agencies’ materials preselected and downloaded by the Thomas Jefferson Information Center (TJIC).
INTERNET SECTION
This section is equipped with computers to gain access to information in the Internet. Faculty and students can use this section to search for materials available in the library using subscribed and free online databases.
REVIEW CORNER
This corner is exclusively used to accommodate students who are reviewing for their licensure board examinations. It is equipped with review materials/resources.
FACULTY CORNER
Faculty members/staff who visit the library are enjoined to occupy the area for their reading and research activities.
